Another defensive clinic for the reigning champions in the Basketball Champions League.

Iberostar Tenerife showed why they are one of the strongest teams in Basketball Champions League and defeated Gaziantep 72 – 53 the day that coach Nenad Markovic returned to the island. The reigning champions lead Group B with 8 victories while the Turkish squad remains with just two wins.

The champs struggled offensively in the first half and Gaziantep tied the game at 34 before the break. Tenerife reached a 15-point lead (51 – 36, 25′) but they lost Nico Richotti due to injury.

The key: Fotis Katsikaris’ squad was leading by just 7 points at the end of the third (55 – 48) but they decided the game in the last period. The hosts received just 5 points and they enjoyed a comfortable ending.

The star: Mike Tobey dominated both ends of the floor with 13 points, 11 boards and 4 blocks for the winners. Rosco Allen added 12 while Mateusz Ponitka’s 8 points came on 3-of-11 from the field.

Victor Rudd led all scorer with 19 points and he also grabbed 7 rebounds.
