Brose Bamberg players and coaching staff agreed to take a 50% cut on their salaries during a joint meeting with Brose shareholders chairman Michael Stochek and managing director Arne Dirks, the team announced.

The only member of the team who didn’t agree was team captain Elias Harris, according to Stoschek.

“I am grateful to everyone who supports our basketball company in the current crisis and everyone who accepts the inevitable measures. I am very disappointed that our captain Elias Harris does not live up to his role model and is the only one who has rejected the agreement,” Stoschek said per Bamberg‘s website.

Bamberg also mentioned that Brose Fahrzeugteile, the car parts company that is the main sponsor of the club, won’t cut the financial support for the season.

“In this difficult time, I experience understanding and solidarity among the entire workforce. We also get a high level of support and helpfulness from large parts of the fan scene and from our partners,” Dirks said.

The German BBL League has been suspended until 30 of April in light of the coronavirus outbreak. Dirks has proposed that the 2019-2020 season should be canceled.
