Partizan NIS Belgrade ended the 2017/18 ABA League campaign in the fifth place, therefore, failing to qualify for both EuroLeague and EuroCup as the invitations are reserved for the four best-placed teams. Despite this, Partizan didn’t give up on the European competitions as they applied for the 2018/19 EuroCup wild card, the club president Ostoja Mijailovic announced.
Also, he mentioned that in case EuroLeague decided to expand, Partizan should be the main candidate for a wildcard amongst the ABA League clubs:
“However, if EuroLeague decide to increase the number of teams in the competition, based on its way of consolidation, and rich tradition, Partizan has to be considered as the most serious candidate for WC from ABA League.”, Mijailovic added.
